IL NERO MUOVE PER PRIMO
International Design Competition “Meno è più 3”
Organization: City of Rome, 2006-07
The decision of turning Via Concesio, a road crossing the outskirts north of Rome, into a pedestrian path activates a design competition which aims at reinventing the urban neighborhood of Prima Porta, through an educational as well as recreational program. The municipality of Rome asks designers to provide the pedestrian path with both a new street furniture and public services, among which a kindergarten and a marketplace. The kindergarten is designed as the core building of a linear system of public spaces; it is recognizable from the pastel tones of its walls, and is identified by an enclosure, made of walls and fences, containing gardens, rooms and patios into a protected area.
